Our destination for May of 2027 is the South Okanagan!
We are waiting on confirmation for accommodation and transportation, but plans for this trip involve the following (subject to change based on results of my inquiries):
Staying at the beautiful Naramata Centre which hosts groups in cabins with facilities for group breakfasts
Performing at the Penticton Farmers’ Market at the Gyro Park Bandshell
Visiting Kelowna for some clinics and games, perhaps a musical performance
Who is invited?
Students involved in any ensemble at Mouat are invited on this trip. Concert Band, Choir, and both Jazz Bands will be performing. Students are not required to come on the trip and their grade will not be affected if they cannot join us. However, with all ensembles performing, it will be important for as many students to come as who are able. Plus, it will be a great way for our music program to connect together as a whole!
The cost of this trip?
Since we do not have accommodation confirmed yet and the district has not quoted us on bus fees, I cannot provide a cost estimate at this time. The cost will be subsidized in part by school funding and in part by fundraising efforts throughout the year. I will keep students and families updated with information and will provide a cost estimate as soon as I am able.
Again, the outline above is my goal, but it is subject to change based on what is available to us. I am waiting to hear back from a few organizations before I know whether the main elements of the trip can be achieved. If any changes arise, I will let you know!
